25 Lessons Learned in 2025

By Shazad

Winter is in full force, and the year is about to end. January 1st will be upon us, and many will make resolutions, set goals, and create plans for what they want to achieve in the New Year. Let’s look back on the year that’s about to close and reflect on what we have learned about ourselves, the world, and life in general. Some of my reflections are below for you to consider and apply to your life.

  1. Physical Presence is the best gift: Your undivided attention is more valuable than any physical gift.

  2. Relationships need "offline" time: Depth happens in the gaps between notifications.

  3. Apologizing is a strength: Saying "I’m sorry" to your kids or partner builds a bridge, not a wall.

  4. Love should feel safe: Real love isn't a roller coaster; it’s a steady, calm harbour.

  5. Reach out first: Everyone is a little bit lonely; be the one to send the "thinking of you" or “How are you doing?” message.

  6. Small traditions matter: Sunday pancakes or a 5 p.m. walk are the glue that holds a life together.

  7. Curiosity over judgment: When someone frustrates you, try to wonder why instead of deciding who they are.

  8. "Busy" is not "Productive": Moving fast doesn't mean you're going anywhere.

  9. Internal validation is the only kind that lasts: If you live for their "likes," you’ll die by their "dislikes” or their ‘ghosting’ you.

  10. Imperfect action beats perfect inaction: Write the bad first draft; take the wobbly first step. Keep practicing and moving forward.

  11. Failure is just "data": It’s not a stop sign; it’s a GPS rerouting you to a better path.

  12. Celebrate the "Micro-Wins": Drank enough water today? That’s a win. Did a 5-minute walk? Celebrate it!

  13. You can reinvent yourself at any time: You are a work in progress, not a finished statue.

  14. Change is the only constant: Learn to dance with it instead of trying to outrun it.

  15. Self-compassion is the fuel for growth: You can't shame yourself into a version of yourself you love.

  16. AI is a useful tool, not a replacement for thinking: It can write a poem, but it can’t feel the sunset. Becoming a master of your tool and not falling in love with it.

  17. Digital clarity is mental clarity: Unsubscribe from the newsletters that make you feel "less than.

  18. Rest is productive: Your body isn't a machine; it’s a garden that needs fallow seasons.

  19. Nature is a healer: Ten minutes under a tree can reset your nervous system.

  20. Movement is for joy, not punishment: Walk because you love how your legs feel, not because you ate a cookie.

  21. Gratitude shifts your frequency: You can’t be grateful and afraid at the same time. Be grateful for what you have every day

  22. You are stronger than you think: Look back at everything you survived in 2025. You’re still here.

  23. Your job is what you do, not who you are: You are a human being, not a human doing.

  24. Sleep is a sacred ritual: Guard your bedtime like it's a treasure map.

  25. Life is fleeting: 2025 went by in a blink; don't wait for "someday."
