“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.”
> Meister Eckhart
It’s nearly the end of 2026, and there’s so much going on. You might think Today is the wrong time to start something new or begin again, but you would be wrong, in my opinion. It’s actually the best time to do this. The next best time is the day after. The idea is to just keep yourself open to starting again, every single day.
Some things do have a better time, as in an “optimal” or ideal moment, because of what’s happening in the rest of your life or in the world. Many times, it’s just a matter of deciding that today is that day and putting one foot in front of the other. Get outside, go for a walk. Read a few pages of a book or watch a video tutorial. Just start your journey today and embrace being a beginner, someone who starts something, instead of someone “waiting for the right moment”.
Here’s How To Get Started:
Pick 1 thing you want to accomplish, and figure out the next 3-5 steps or actions. Work on Step 1 TODAY!
Pick 1 more thing you want to complete, and figure out the next steps. Schedule this to start at the beginning of the next month.
Keep something scheduled in your calendar for every month of the year. This will give you 30 mini-projects or adventures to work on, one each month.
The above 3-step process will keep you actively pursuing something each month and keep you familiar with the beginner’s mindset. A person who is always ready to learn and keep moving forward. You will feel some frustration or ‘friction’ because it’s not always fun being a noob at something. You have to keep working on those meaningful projects to reach a year of fulfillment by the time they're done. Don’t wait for January 1st or some other artificial date to begin. Start where you are and begin today because there’s no time like the present!
